چکیده

Lung-sparing medical ventilation –CPAP + PSV Mode – The FABIAN HFO is a new medical ventilator that was developed mainly for use with newborns and can accommodate children weighing up to 30 kg. It is equipped for ventilation modes CMV, SIMV, AC, PSV, and HFO and has VG, volume limit, and leak correction functions. A key feature is separate pressure setup for backup ventilation during apnoea in the CPAP + PSV mode. This article summarizes the specifications of the FABIAN HFO, looking mainly at benefits and caveats in the CPAP+PSV Mode.

Pressure support ventilation versus continuous positive airway pressure with the laryngeal mask airway: a randomized crossover study of anesthetized adult patients.

BACKGROUND The authors tested the hypothesis that pressure support ventilation (PSV) provides more effective gas exchange than does unassisted ventilation with continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) in anesthetized adult patients treated using the laryngeal mask airway. METHODS Forty patients were randomized to two equal-sized crossover groups, and data were collected before surgery. In g...

The effects of different ventilator modes on cerebral tissue oxygen saturation in patients with bidirectional superior cavopulmonary connection.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES We used near-infrared spectroscopy to document changes in cerebral tissue oxygen saturation (SctO2) in response to ventilation mode alterations after bidirectional Glenn (BDG; superior cavopulmonary connection) procedure. We also determined whether spontaneous ventilation have a beneficial effect on hemodynamic status, lactate and SctO2 when compared with other ventilation m...

Decompression-triggered positive-pressure ventilation during cardiopulmonary resuscitation improves pulmonary gas exchange and oxygen uptake.

BACKGROUND Intermittent positive-pressure ventilation (IPPV) is the "gold standard" of ventilation during cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), but continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) is increasingly discussed as an alternative. This study investigated hemodynamics and pulmonary gas exchange applying CPAP enhanced with pressure support ventilation (CPAP(PSV)) during CPR. METHODS AND RES...

بررسی مقایسه‌ای روش‌های PSV و SIMV در جدا کردن نوزادان از دستگاه تهویه مکانیکی

Background: The use of synchronized intermittent mandatory ventilation (SIMV) and pressure support ventilation (PSV) have been used for older children and adults. The purpose of this study was to compare PSV and SIMV modes in weaning from mechanical ventilation in neonate with respiratory failure. Methods: A randomized clinical trial study carried out in NICU ward of Valiasr hospital Imam Khom...

Effects of continuous positive airway pressure/positive end-expiratory pressure and pressure-support ventilation on work of breathing, using an animal model.

OBJECTIVE Evaluate the effects of continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP)/positive end-expiratory pressure (PEEP) and pressure support ventilation (PSV) on work of breathing (WOB). METHODS With 13 anesthetized lambs we measured WOB with an esophageal balloon and flow signals. All the animals were sedated, intubated, and ventilated, using 2 pediatric ventilators (Servo 300 and VIP Bird). Ve...
